Why does an EU citizen need to obtain an EU sticker at the Immigration Department?
For 3 reasons:
1) Tax purposes, for things such as annual refund and child benefit
2) Application for Dutch citizenship is only possible after 5 years from first registration date on the EU sticker
3) Proof for certain companies such as telecom providers (applying for fixed mobile account)
Why do I need a passport photo taken in the Netherlands?
The immigration services have strict rules regarding size and other requirements regarding the photo.
Can I use my proof of tuberculosis check that was already done in my home country?
No, the TBC test needs to be taken in the Netherlands.
Why is the validity date of the residence permit for the family different than that of the employee?
Employee and children get the same validity date as the ending date of the labour contract. The spouse/partner will get a permit for only 1 year.

Why do you work with only one real estate agent?
The real estate agents in the major cities work with central listings, meaning that they can access all properties on the rental market, therefore it is not necessary to work with more than one agent.

Why is an EU driving licence only valid for 10 years after issue date in the Netherlands?
According to Dutch law, the maximum validity of driving licences is 10 years.
Can I ask for exemptions of import duties for my car?
Yes, provided that the car is in your possession for at least 6 months preceding your transfer.
What is a BSN-number and how do I obtain this?
This is your personal tax number, which you will obtain when you get registered at the city hall.
Can I open a bank account and subscribe to TV/internet and telephone before my arrival in the Netherlands?
No, you will need your BSN-number to do these types of transactions.
Can I register at any family doctor?
No, you can only register with a family doctor in or neighbouring your home address postal code.
